Everyday poor Luna woke up crowded with tons of other dogs, out in the hot Hawaiian sun and in horrible poor conditions. She was covered from the top of her head to the in between of her toes in ticks! On top of everything she was pregnant. She had eight puppies moving about the inside.
One day we got a call from a Good Samaritan telling us about her and how she needed help. Her owner was battling cancer and had been neglecting this sweet girl. Luckily we were able to convince him to surrender Luna Moona to our shelter so that she could get the love and care that she so desperately needed and deserved.
After one look we knew how dire this situation was. We brought her into the exam room immediately and began removing the ticks. The amount of ticks made it like she had a second coat of fur.
Three hours and one soothing bath later, we had removed just as many as we could. We found her an amazing foster to go home with that night and after 2-3 days in foster she had 7 healthy puppies!
Thanks to the support of our community, we are able to save lives like these. Now Luna Moona and all her pups have found loving forever homes.
We can't continue to save the lives of homeless, abused and abandoned animals here in Hawaii without your support. Please consider making a contribution through the CFC to Oahu SPCA, CFC# 97109.
