There are over 2000 Veterans waiting for a life saving kidney transplant in the United States. Many will not survive the 4-6 year wait to receive a kidney from a deceased donor on the national wait list. Living kidney donation is safe for those who are medically cleared. Living kidney donors can live long lives with one kidney and can save another life with their other kidney. Veterans have a higher rate of developing kidney failure than the general population. What better way to show them our appreciation for all they have done for our freedoms - by stepping up to give them freedom from dialysis and a better life? DOVE supports both the Veterans and their prospective donors throughout the process. DOVE raises awareness in the community about kidney disease and organ donation and believes we can solve the national donor crises by engaging communities to be part of the solution.
